Scarecrow Festival 2020

We are delighted that over 100 scarecrows were registered for our Scarecrow Festival which took place in Almondbury, Lepton and Fenay Bridge over the weekend of August 15th and 16th!

Many thanks to all the local businesses and residents who registered with us and built amazing displays - the quality and variety was fantastic.

We are excited to announce “The BFG” by Rachael Cockrill is our winner!!!

Well done to Rachael and her mum for creating such an amazing masterpiece! Rachael wins our £50 cash prize, a bottle of champagne and an engraved trophy (thanks to Ballcraft Engraving Specialists for the trophy!)

Second place is a tie between “Mario Kart” at Broken Cross by Shelley Askworth and “Megan and The Royals” at Longley Road by Sheila and Stephen Braithwaite.

Our fabulous runners up are:-

  • “Masquerade” by the lovely ladies from Almonds hairdressers in Northgate, Almondbury
  • “Goonies” by Roisin and Chris of Longley Road, Almondbury
  • “The Glittery Mermaid” by Julia Clark of Longley Road, Almondbury

Our chair also awarded a prize of £25 to Steven and Anne Greenwood of Manor Park Way for their fantastic creation, “The Lockdown Look”.

As well as prizes for our Scarecrow creators, we also held a raffle for people who submitted Scarecrow votes. 

Last, but by know means least we would like to thank everyone who took part in the festival, whether you created a scarecrow, took part in the trail or helped in any way! We were absolutely overwhelmed by the amazing talent on display. It really was a great community event for all ages!
