The pretty, upbeat, picturesque village of Almondbury lies just two miles on the south side of Huddersfield.

We have quaint historical buildings and a rich medieval history all set amidst rolling hills and countryside. It’s a great place to live and work and we love to welcome visitors. Almondbury is the birthplace for the town of Huddersfield but because of the geographical layout of the land the Town Centre was built on the lower ground at the "bottom of the hill". Today, the village of Almondbury has developed and grown, yet has retained its characterful appearance and atmosphere. It provides a range of businesses and facilities within the village centre and beyond.

Almondbury is a great destination for health and beauty treatments; has an active library with a range of activities including a local history group as well as a Men's group; has award winning food retailers; a wide range of shopping and recreation facilities; and superb venues to have a drink, a meal and enjoy live music. We even have our own annual Jazz festival.

If sport is your passion we have 2 cricket clubs, a swimming pool and 2 green grass bowling clubs, plus football teams and a boxing club. Walks in and around the village, not to mention the nearby hills, will keep you fit!

And at the end of all that if you need a quiet space you can relax and unwind in one of the 3 churches in our village.

There really is something for all tastes in Almondbury. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Being positive

Being positive

Messages of love and hope are appearing around the village. Local children are using their time and creating "lovely" little messages to raise spirits and let isolated family know they are still being thought about in these demanding times. Is this something you could encourage your children to make - social distancing guidelines observed at all times of course. Pictures of these could be shared on social media as a message to family and friends. There are lots of activities for people of all ages to do during this period of self isolation - doing something like this with such a positive message is just one example. If you have examples of kindness and positive actions that you want to share, send information to
